Have you grown up?

have you ever wondered how to tell whether or not you have grown up?
here's a guide. (:

Here are simple 25 ways to determine:

And Lastly…

25. WHEN YOU FIND OUT YOUR FRIEND IS PREGNANT YOU CONGRATULATE THEM INSTEAD OF ASKIN “OH SHIT, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?”

so have you grown up?
nope, i guess i am not.

Incanto Dream

Top notes are pineapple, black currant, mango and red apple;
middle notes are peony and freesia;
base notes are sandalwood and musk.
[quoted]

a little perfume knowledge here:
Top notes
Provide the first scent impression of a fragrance once it has been applied to the skin. They are usually lighter, more volatile aromas that evaporate readily. Their scent usually lingers for between 5 and 30 minutes.

Middle notes
Sometimes referred to as “heart notes”, make up the body of the blend. They may be evident from the start, but will usually take 10-30 minutes to fully develop on the skin. They are the notes that classify the fragrance family (floral, oriental, chypre, etc, see below).

Base Notes
Are those with the greatest molecular weight. They last the longest, and are also important as fixatives, that is, they help slow down the evaporation rates of the lighter notes, giving the fragrance holding power. Common base notes include oakmoss, patchouli, woods, musk and vanilla. A fragrance which does not have traditional top, middle and base notes is usually described as "linear".

and i realised that all those perfumes that i love contains pineapple and mango. (:

Fall for you lyrics

Song lyrics | Fall For You lyrics

Both my colleagues, Lynda and Kesleen keeps on irritating me with this nice song.

yes, it is irritating when people make such a nice song so irritating.

i wonder how they do it man!

they are forever repeating the chorus missing one or two words here and there.
and forgetting the lyrics, then trying to hum it out.
Oh my god! can't stand it liao!

i think they will continue doing it for a very long time.

i guess until the FM 987 stops playing it very morning. ):
i pity my ears man. ): i pity secondhand serenade for having fans like them. hehe. (:

Flying to Europe for only $75!!

OH MY GOD RIGHT?

Click on the KLM banner on the right of my blog to find out more! (:

Don't forget to bring me along if you are going to Europe ya!

i murdered ants today! (:

i did a very satisfying yet sadistic thing today!
WAHAHAH!! *laughs evilly*
i killed almost 50 ants today!
(50 or more ants actually. :P)

was baking my oreo cheese cake while a great idea to kill ants suddenly struck me!

a small little piece of oreo was being used as a bait.
Left the oreo somewhere near my kitchen sink.
After about 40 minutes, ants started appearing on the oreo.

more and more ants started crawling out of their ant hole onto the oreo.
the ants are quite clever.
they avoided the cream of the oreo,
i randomly saw an ant accidentally steeping onto the cream,
and it quickly scuttered off the cream.
i suspect that the cream is unable to withstand the ant's weight,
causing the ant to sink into the cream.
i suppose it feels like humans stepping on a muddy puddle?

but who cares about those irritating pests?

my motive is to kill them all!
and find that ant nest where they have been hiding in.

other tahn theose small little ants, there are actually those big fat ones too!
eeks. disgusting la!

waited for a while until i am satisfy with the quantity of ants feeding on my oreo,

which is about this much..

Then, out came my secret weapon!
Baygon!
WAHAHAHAH! i sprayed it on the oreo,
and all along the long stretch of road under my sink ledge that they were crawling on,

finally, i aimed my Baygon towards the ants' hole and sprayed a fair bit directly at the ants hole!
(:
hehe! hopefully the Baygon is able to reach all the way in, and flood the ants' nest!
:P i am just so evil!

here is a consolidated photos of the ants that i took.
hehe (:
i was feeling really bored at home la.

here is a video of those disgusting abts crawling about.
haha. (:
told you i was bored!

all about women that you need to know.

Things about women that guys need to know.
Women isn't that difficult to figure out afterall.
This author Tad Safran wrote a cynical article about how he understands women.
Quite an interesting read.

April 20, 2008

Everything I know about women . . .

. . . Our correspondent learnt from his two-year-old niece – from not making her cry to the art of gift giving

As a single man in my mid-thirties, I’ve spent 20 years trying to understand women, with mixed results. It wasn’t until six months ago, however, that I was given a clear insight into how the female mind works.

It came in the form of Lou-Lou, my two-year-old niece. I know, as a grown-up, that the onus is on me to teach her useful stuff rather than the other way around, but in this case, the instruction was mutual. I taught her how to wink, blow raspberries, burp and count to 10, sort of. “One, two, three, seven, nine, ten”, which is good enough for me, as, personally, I’ve always thought the numbers four, five, six and eight were overrated.

In return, I learnt more about women in two months than I had gleaned on my own in two decades. This does not mean, by the way, that I think women are like two-year-olds and should be treated as such. I love my niece. I respect my niece. I’d dive on an unexploded grenade for my niece, and not just to amuse her. I would only dive on it if there was real danger of it exploding and hurting her. Women are all individuals and I’m making generalisations, but in the two-year-old Lou-Lou is the undiluted, unaffected essence – the “id” – of womanhood. Here’s what I’ve learnt.

1 Ignore them

If I come into a room and bounce up to Lou-Lou like a clown, trying to amuse and entertain, she blanks me completely. It’s as if I don’t exist. If I walk straight past her, however, I guarantee she will call out my name and want to play with me.

2 Bribe them

Gifts work. Preferably something noisy or sparkly. With Lou-Lou, that means stuffed animals that sing or sequined hair grips. With grown women, I suppose that equates to, say, cars and jewellery.

3 Compliment them

I’ve mistakenly always held that compliments are like diamonds: valuable only for their scarcity. Flood the market and they lose all value. Not so. Lou-Lou poos in her nappy, everyone cheers – as if she just came up with a workable solution to world hunger – and she beams like a lighthouse. The same works with grown women, although, of course, only the general principle applies rather than the specific example given here. (I learnt this one the hard way.)

4 Listen to them

I’ve spent my life trying to preempt what women want. I needn’t have bothered. If I just pay attention, Lou-Lou will tell me exactly what she wants: eat, dance, doll, jump, run, sing, play, read. Then all I have to do is organise it. How much simpler my life would have been if I had listened and acted accordingly.

5 Apologise

It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. It doesn’t matter if you don’t even know what you’ve done. I might have slighted Lou-Lou by putting the wrong doll in the pram. What seems to you or me like a minor infraction is, to her, on a par with genocide. The best policy is to throw yourself on her mercy and beg forgiveness. But you must sound sincere. You don’t have to be sincere, just sound sincere. This is so elementary, yet how many men ignore this advice?

6 Let them do it

Whatever “it” is. No matter how ridiculous it may seem to you, let her do it. When Lou-Lou gets an idea into her mind, there’s no talking her out of it. In fact, be supportive, encourage her even. Then sit back and hope she discovers for herself that it was a stupid idea. The downside is that she might decide it was an excellent idea. One day, I found myself playing dolls’ tea party for two whole hours and drank so many cups of imaginary tea, I was imaginary peeing all afternoon.

7 Don't tell them what to do

The best way to guarantee that she doesn’t do what I want is by telling her to do it. The clever thing is to make it seem like her idea – and make it seem fun. One of my proudest moments was convincing Lou-Lou that watching the rugby World Cup final would be more fun than playing in the sandpit.

8 Don't complain to them

This is a tricky one. What I mean by this is, don’t burden her with your petty problems. When I complain to Lou-Lou about a bad meeting or a sore back, she couldn’t care less, but if there’s genuinely something wrong, she will instinctively sense it and, with one hug, pick me up more than I thought possible.

9 Don't argue

There’s simply no point. You will never win, and if you do win, it will be a hollow victory because of the mood she’ll be in for a long time afterwards. Quite frankly, who needs the aggro? This leads to my final and most important point:

10 Don't make them cry

There is nothing more distressing than watching Lou-Lou’s enormous, innocent brown eyes overflow with tears, while her mouth becomes a gaping, drooling, mournful air-raid siren that pierces through to the core of my heart. I’m utterly defenceless when she cries. And there’s no known antidote. Food? Monkey impressions? A pony? Stabbing myself in the eye with a chopstick? I will agree to anything to stop her crying – and doesn’t she.

i wonder if i made a right choice posting this here.

Previously, I was feeling a little down.
Kept on harping on how much i need a getaway, and the amount of greatness a holiday can do to me.
The problem was i can't find people who want to go with me.

However, now, everyone wants to go on a Holiday with me but who should i go with?
and who seriously wants to go on a holiday with me?

I hate it when people go, "yeah let's go on a holiday together!"
started off with such a cheery, happy statement but ended up with tons of disappointment.
"oh, I can't make it, have something on.."
"oh, my parents don't really like the idea..sorry.."
"like a little ex hor?"

Okie fine lo!
Whatever!

Firstly, if you can't make it please don't make it sound as though you can make it,
and you are shittingly excited that you can come with me.

Secondly, stop trying to be mummys' papas' girls la.
19 already can!?
Third world countries aren't as bad and as horrible as you think it is like.
If you despise third world countries,
i think most likely you are looking down on them.
obviously these third world countries aren't as nice as those prestigious English-speaking-full-of-angmohs countries that mummys and papas bring you to.
Please understand the fact that not everyone is as rich and fortunate as you all.
We should count ourselves lucky even to be able to step out of this nano-ish red dot.
Be it to a third, second or first world country.
i guess all these may be too difficult for you all to comprehend.
the easiest way that you all those to understand things is by the monetary value attached to it.
sorry for putting things so bluntly and harshly.
yet, i feel that that is reality.

Thirdly, if you all are into tour packages, those non-free-and-easy ones,
please count me out!
To me, tour packages are extremely overpriced and not worth the money at all.
Especially the compulsory tour guide tips that one have to pay that the end of the trip.

This brings me to my last point- Price.
I would very much prefer a more budget trip,
which includes:
staying in a cheap, budget and probably ulu hotel,
taking the country's buses/trains if its cheaper than cabbing around.

Through all these small little savings,
it can actually make up to a lot of money,
leaving us more money to eat, shop and have FUN!
Who says that a budget trip cannot be enjoyable?
and who says that an expensive, not worth it trip is enjoyable?
At least a budget trip saves you from the aftermath staring at a long list of credit card bills,
or sufferings from a broken heart after feeling the burning sensation in your pocket.

The other reason for the cause of my dilemma is I hope that i will not have to go on holiday with someone whom i do not enjoy.
Not that I do not enjoy that person's company now.
and i swear i am not referring to any particular person.
It is just that, sense of resentment towards someone will tend to surface during the trip itself.
While holidaying, the very last thing you want is that the mood of your trip is dampen by quarrels and lack of common direction.

It is important to find someone whom:
you can relate to,
you can live with,

someone who:
can tolerate your living habits ,
you can tolerate their living habits,

someone who:
has a common goal on what you all want to achieve out of this trip.

Even if you can get along with this person quite well before the trip,
it doesn't ensure that things will be smooth sailing.
During or after the trip, things may turn otherwise.

You may not agree but its complicated.
It is difficult to explain.
I have experienced it personally before.
My good friend too.
Things choose to happen this way,
not that i want it to.

It is just perplexing.
I wonder why do i even trouble myself with complicated things at times.
I seem to be thinking too much into things. ):

Very often, I dream of myself going overseas alone.
Going backpacking alone.

I guess this dream will stay as a dream forever.
I'm not as courageous as to take that first step.
I can't bear to live in solitude.
Even staying in my own room without anyone's company proved to make me unhappy.
How can i possibly survive in a whole in place so distant from home all by myself?

Nevertheless, the idea of making new acquaintances or even friends is tickling my heart.

Furthermore, the sense of satisfaction that i get might just be that turning point which makes me change my mind, and cross that gigantic hurdle impeding my dream....

Time to wake up..
Maybe i am just thinking too much.
the financial burden will be too great for me to handle.
(at least for the time being.)

being shaken awake, back to peanuts land....

half/whole siblings & fabulous/nerd siblings

there are two interesting siblings topics that surfaced during work.

Firstly, lynda talking about C watch.
(something which i will blog about some other time.)
She couldn't believe that we do not know what a C watch is,
so being frustrated, she exclaimed,
"How can you all not know? My whole siblings have the watch!"
realised the mistake in italic?
i wonder what is half/quarter sibling.

Secondly, kesleen and i were talking about how siblings look different.
Kesleen made her point on how she doesn't understand why some people can be very good looking yet their siblings look like nerd.
lastly, she added that,
"Oh luckily your brother is good looking and doesn't look like nerd..."
then, i gave her a sad, pathetic face, "Then do i look like a nerd?"

i missed by just a little bit!

today is WEDNESDAY!!
and i bought 4D for today!

almost forget until when i saw my dad looking at his own.

BAD BAD NEWS!
i didn't win anything! ):

just missed it by a little!
shit man. ):

look at the yellowish green stars for yourself! ):
haiz. ):
where is 0779!!!
why the shit did my 7 become 6 and my 0 become 6!

another thing to note is the number of 77s there are!
my favourite number leh!!
argh!
shall wait for Saturday and Sunday one then.

Monday, May 19, 2008

lucky lucky 4D!

guess what?
i bought 4D! (:
hehe (:
second time buying 4D.
cost me a total of $6!
wednesday, saturday and sunday.
The Magic number i bought is 0779!

$1 big for the number itself.
and $1 for iBet.
three days each.
thus, total $6.

iBet, for those who dunno, iBet means that if the 4diggits appear in any permutations, you will win money also. Just that the amount of money won will be less, i think divided by the number of permutations.
for example, the number i bought is 0779, so when i iBet that number,
there will be a total of 12 permutations.
so if i win $60,
the prize money will be divided by 12.
meaning i will get only $5.

However for my case,
cause i bought the number by itself and also the iBet number,
i will win in total $65.
$60 for the number itself,
and $5 for the iBet number.

done with the calculations,
its the inspiration part.
how did i even get this number?
went to three temples to pray today,
as usual thank gods for granting me a place in a local university and setting my mind at peace,
plus pray for good health , good results and smooth sailing in things i do.
the last temple i went to was the tooth relic temple.

it is really very beautiful inside.
fully air conditioned.
(except for the 5level garden, called the 万佛圓, its lift lobby, and lastly the staircases.)

with gold and red as its primary colour scheme,
the overall feeling that i get is that it is a very grand place.

due to us going there too late,
we did not get to see the tooth relic.

and there are no pictures taken today, didn't bring my camera out. ):
no matter what i MUST go back there one day!

after that, we went to a vesak day bazaar organised opposite the temple, on the field.

on our way back, i saw this really beautiful orange land rover sitting at the side of the road.
noticed that the license number is 779!
i thought to myself, what a nice number!
i want it! (:
in spite of this, it did not immediately spur me on to buy 4D.

after crossing the road, another BMW car caught my eye.
it appeared at the corner of my eye.
and since i always have the fetish for BMW cars,
especially BMW Z4,
and the one sitting at the corner of my eye is indeed a sports car,
so i turned around and look at the car.
but to my disappointment, its a 6 series BMW sports car.
however, the thing that caught my attention was the car license number!
it was grinning at me!
779!
exactly the same as the land rover!
and the two cars are less than 2 metres apart!
and it contains my favorite number 77!

i exclaimed very loudly to my dad and brother,
asking them where can i buy 4D!
hehe (:
and it all happened!

my mom bought me to this Singapore Pools lottery place at chinatown.
She believes that buying at Singapore Pools itself is better than those small little ulu shops.
She said that it brings more luck.
(:
So hopefully it comes true!
together with my beginners' luck
(the "first" time i bought was for my mom, not myself, so this is considered first time!),
may i strike 4D!
huat ah! (:
pictures of my 4D papers:
this is the iBet one!
see 12 permutations.

this is the normal one.

together:

lastly an interesting thing on the back of the paper.
(:

which course in university?

i officially announce that Joan is going to accept has accepted the offer from NUS Faculty of Science.

Joan is being offered Pyschology in HSS, (NTU)
and Science in NUS.

two minutes ago,
Joan accepted the Faculty of Science offer in NUS.

this is the screen that shows (:

Joan no longer feel as sad that she did not get into Business.
She has learnt how to deceive herself that business is not for her.
She has straighten out her thoughts, and gave up on appealing for Business.
She has also decided to learn to love what she is offered.
(Since she knows that her results aren't that fantastic to get her to wherever she wants to.
She is resigned to fate that she got Science.

Talking to her cousins and friends made her understand something more about herself.
She still doesn't know what she wants to be.
Sometimes, in her eyes, a pitch dark future will flash in front of her.
In that split second, she will feel depressed and disappointed in herself.
Life isn't as easy as before.
Life isnt as simple as it used to be.

She begins comparing her life now with the one she had previously.
Previously = Primary/Secondary School years.

Very often she would rather be the best among average,
than to be the last among the best.
She is egoistic.
She needs to feel good about herself.
Yet, life has been cruel to her for the past few years.

She knows that she needs to start working hard.
Doubly and triple-ly hard.
She is setting a rather high target for herself.
She do have plans for the future.
Plans that she doesn't wish to let people know of,
in fear of the way people will look/laugh at her if she doesn't achieve her target/goal.
Life is practical.
However, not as practical as if you study hard you are sure to do well.
I stand by the believe that if you study smart, you will do well.

After some reflections,
i see myself studying blindly and stupidly for the past two years.
it was a different form of studying as my Secondary school time.
Studying blindly left me in fatigue.
Fatigue that no amount of rest can revive me.

Its time for a change.
Reflections leave me in a state of depression for a while,
but ultimately gives me enough strength and determination to press on.

Joan is fine.
No worries.
She has little bookwormy to serve as a constant reminder.

Looking into the future,
seeing herself on stage, proudly, in her graduation robe,
grinning widely,
with a sense of pride in herself.

i'm yours (:

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
and now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I'll be giving it my bestest
Nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love
Listen to the music of the moment maybe sing with me
i love peaceful melody
It's your God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
My breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what i'ma saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
this is our fate, I'm yours

Well no no, well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find the sky is yours
Listen to the music of the moment come and dance with me
A lá one big family (2nd time: A lá happy family; 3rd time: A lá peaceful melody)
It's your God-forsaken right to be loved love love love

I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

No please, don't complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I'm yours

No please, don't hesitate
no more, no more
It cannot wait
The sky is your's!

and mabelle kept on saying that she is going over to dubai to see eeyuen ah yi's baby.
hehe (:
adding on to that,
mabelle also said that eeyuen ah yi's baby is very cute!
imagine mabelle saying someone else is cute.
i was just wondering whether she knows what is cute,
but i had decided not to underestimate her.
kids do make judgments too.
nevertheless, adults may not be very keen on agreeing on a kids point of view.
but then again,
mabelle is a clever child. (:
her view deserves to be recognised. (:
